Island Park is a village located in Nassau County, New York in the United States. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 4,732. A 2005 estimate puts the population slightly higher at 4,741. Island Park is located in the town of Hempstead. It is also a landing point for Fiber-Optic Link Around the Globe which is a major worldwide Internet cable. It is also known for its good food,surf,athletics,but it is seen that in 2007 it had a rise in crime 5% of which prostitution. It is recommended to live here if you have a poor family, but the upside is its schools which are almost blue ribbon class. The schools have no high school so the families have a choice between Oceanside High School, Long beach High school, or the Highly recommended West Hempstead High School known highly for its academics and athletics which have been shown on the television channel MSG Varsity.
