Longs is a small unincorporated community in Horry County, South Carolina, United States. It lies about 14 miles northwest of North Myrtle Beach, located at the intersection of S.C. 9 and S.C. 905. The town itself consists of a post office, a gas station, and a few small businesses, however, the area is fast growing into a suburb of the Grand Strand. Of historical note, Longs appears on a map from 1682 of "rivers, harbors, plantations, and other accommodations" in North and South Carolina ("Carolina Country"). What is intellectual property law?
Under intellectual property law, owners are granted certain exclusive rights to a variety of intangible assets, such as musical, literary, and artistic works; discoveries and inventions; and words, phrases, symbols, and designs. Common types of intellectual property include copyrights, trademarks, patents, industrial design rights and trade secrets. Intellectual property law involves advising and assisting individuals and businesses on the development, use, and protection of intellectual property -- which includes ideas, artistic creations, engineering processes, scientific inventions, and more.
