Labor law arose due to the demands for workers for better conditions, the right to organize, and the simultaneous demands of employers to keep labor costs low. Dorton is an unincorporated community in southern Pike County, Kentucky, United States. Located along U.S. Route 23, also known as Country Music Highway, it lies at 37.27667°N, 82.57917°W at the altitude of 683 feet. The community was named for William P. Dorton. Dorton Elementary School is located in the community. Dorton High School closed its doors at the conclusion of the 1990 school year when it consolidated with a neighboring high school to become Shelby Valley High School. During each of the last 7 years of its existence, Dorton was home to the girls 59th district basketball champions. The Dorton community has a community park with a walking track and baseball field. Dorton is the hometown of Shelby Valley's star basketball player and front-runner for Mr. Basketball 2010, Elisha Justice.
