Lanai City is a census-designated place (CDP) on the island of Lanai, in Maui County, Hawaii, United States. The population was 3,164 at the 2000 census. In April 2009, Lanai City was named one of the top most endangered historic sites in the U.S. It is home to an intact plantation town, something not found on any of the other Hawaiian Islands, dating back to the early 1920s. This historic district is threatened by commercial development, which would involve the demolition of a number of historic buildings. Lanai City is served by Lanai Airport (LNY).
