In a merger, the company that continues to exist retains its name and identity and acquires the assets, liabilities, franchises, and powers of the corporation that ceases to exist. Attorneys who practice in mergers and acquisitions (sometimes called M & A) represent corporations and other business entities in strategizing, negotiating, and carrying out transactions in which two or more companies or corporations combine into a single new entity, a merger, or where one business purchases and absorbs the assets of another, an acquisition.
Yucaipa (pronounced Yoo-KI-pah) is a city located 10 miles east of San Bernardino, in San Bernardino County, California, United States. According to San Bernardino County the population as of 2007 was 51,046 and with a Projected Population in 2012 of 58,187. This is a significant level of growth since the 2000 census when the city had a population of 41,207. The city's Web site indicates that Yucaipa has grown over 27 percent since the census of 2000.
