Jackson is a city in Breathitt County, Kentucky, United States. Originally established as Breathitt Town in 1839, but was changed to Jackson in 1845. The town is named in honor after the war hero of the War of 1812, Andrew Jackson who had died that same year. The population was 2,490 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Breathitt County.
