Hayward (formerly, Haywards, Haywards Station, and Haywood) is a city located in the East Bay in Alameda County. Hayward is the sixth largest city in the San Francisco Bay Area and is located on the Bay's eastern shore, sandwiched between San Leandro and Union City, at the eastern terminus of the San Mateo Bridge. The estimated population in 2010 was 151,300. Hayward will have a population of 171,800 by 2030 and bring in approximately 98,000 jobs new jobs. The former suburbs of Mt. Eden and Schafer Park have been incorporated into Hayward.
