Winchester is a city in Scott County, Illinois, United States. It is the county seat of Scott County. The population was 1,650 at the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.1 square miles, all of it land. Winchester is part of the Jacksonville Micropolitan Statistical Area.
