Grimes is a city in Dallas and Polk Counties in the U.S. state of Iowa. The population was 5,098 at the 2000 census; a special census in 2004 counted 5,862 residents. Grimes is part of the Des Moines–West Des Moines Metropolitan Statistical Area.
