Windsor is an unincorporated rural hamlet with a post office in extreme southern Casey County, Kentucky, United States. There were originally two community centers in the area, one at the present day intersection of Routes 910 and 80, and another about two miles west of there, near the intersection of Route 80 and Windsor Road (formerly East Fork Road). The post office moved back and forth from both locations several times. The later was originally referred to as "Bethany", since a church and school in the area went by that name. Both areas and the entire length of Route 80 in Casey County are located atop Bethany Ridge, which is the southernmost ridge in the Knobs region. For unknown reasons the first post master Thomas Cooper named the community Windsor. Cooper also ran a general store near the current location of the post office. In the 1930s Route 80 was built through the area, and electric lines were run through it in the mid 1950s. The community is located in the Green River drainage basin. Unlike the rest of Casey County, which is in the 606 area code, Windsor is in the 270 area code. The community also gets both its water and phone service from Russell County although it is in the Eastern time zone with the rest of Casey County. In the early 2000s, "city" water lines were installed since several residences near the Russell County line had problems with sulpher water.
