A rollover is a type of vehicle accident, where a vehicle turns over on its side or roof. Such accidents have a tendency to badly injure the occupants of the vehicle, car, bus or truck involved and those around the vehicle. While many auto accidents occur because of human error, many also can be caused or worsened by defective products or inadequate safety mechanisms. Among these problems are vehicles that are prone to rollovers, especially increasingly popular sport utility vehicles, or SUVs. A number of vehicles have also been found to have roofs that cannot withstand rollover accidents, with drivers and passengers injured and killed. Gering (rhymes with earring, with an initial hard g like gear) is a city in Scotts Bluff County, Nebraska, United States. It is part of the Scottsbluff, Nebraska Micropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 7,751 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Scotts Bluff County. Gering was founded in 1887 at the base of a bluff which is now a National Park called Scotts Bluff National Monument. The city of Scottsbluff was founded across the North Platte River from the bluff in 1900. Separated only by the river, the two cities have since grown together and now form the 7th largest urban area in Nebraska.
