Dumas is mentioned (although Dumas, Texas mistakenly claims the song is about that city) in the song "Walk Hard" From Dumas, a tune by Tyler Cox and brother Dewey Cox which was a hit in the 1930s and 1940s. For decades large signs on the highway entrances to Dumas proclaimed "Welcome to Dumas, We Walk Hard".
