Pinehurst is a village in Moore County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 9,706 at the 2000 census. The host site for the 1999, 2005,& 2014 U.S. Open Golf Championships, the 2008 U.S. Amateur, the 2007 women's U.S. Open Golf Tournament, the former home of the World Golf Hall of Fame, a former venue of the Tour Championship in 1991 & 1992, a recently chosen venue for the 2010 U.S. Junior Girls Golf Championship. and the venue for the 2009 U.S. Kids Golf World Championship.
