Summit is a town in Schoharie County, New York, United States. The population was 1,123 at the time of the 2000 census. The name is derived from a peak (Mt. Wharton) that was thought to be the highest elevation in the county. The Town of Summit is on the western border of the county and is northeast of Oneonta. The Lake View House – A 100 plus year old, allegedly haunted, Hotel, Restaurant and Pub located on Sawyer Hollow Road in Summit. The Lake View House, which closed in 2007 was the only venue in Schoharie County that featured "punk rock" and other out of the mainstream bands, such as skeletonbreath, Scary Crick, The Rubes, The Vader Mountain Boys, The Zydepunks, Mischief Brew, Trabant, Spidey and the Webs and more.
