Carlotta is an unincorporated community in Humboldt County, California. It is located 6.5 miles (10.5 km) southeast of Fortuna, at an elevation of 131 feet (40 m). Carlotta is about 11 miles (18 km) east of US Route 101 on California State Route 36. Official estimates indicate that Carlotta's population is about 300 people. The town is quiet and mostly made up of pastures and forests along the Van Duzen River valley. The town enjoys wonderful weather, except for occasional winter storms and high wind gusts.
