Compton is a city in southern Los Angeles County, California, United States, south-southeast of downtown Los Angeles. The city was incorporated in 1889. Compton is still seen as a primarily African-American city, although in the 2000s Latinos became a plural-majority as a result of immigration and shifts in ethnic populations.
