Trimont is a city in Martin County, Minnesota, USA. The population was 754 at the 2000 census. The community is located between Sherburn and St. James on Minnesota State Highway 4. Interstate 90 is nearby. Trimont is a small community nestled in south central Minnesota. Trimont was once two different towns, platted by competing railroads. The two towns were Triumph, to the east, and Monterey to the west. These towns joined, using the first letters in each town's name, to form what is today known as Trimont. This gives Trimont the unique characteristic of two separate Main Street business districts which are on the same street, yet placed about a half-mile apart. The yearly festival was once known as FunFest. Currently, the festival is called The Chocolate Festival, which is usually held in late July. There is live entertainment, a parade, community church services, and an array of food to be eaten. It is a wonderful family event for all. In 1988, Trimont Schools consolidated with neighboring Sherburn and Welcome to form the Martin County West School District. Trimont school building is the MCW Junior High / Elementary.
