The agency is under the supervision of an executive officer known as the Secretary of the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency. He shall be appointed by the Governor, subject to confirmation by the Senate, and shall hold office at the pleasure of the Governor.

The annual salary of the secretary is provided for by Chapter 6 (commencing with Section 11550) of Part 1 of Division 3 of Title 2 of this code.
