Cal. Gov. Code § 19860

The department may provide by rule for the regulation and accumulation of sick leave credits on an hourly basis for all or certain designated employees. The rate of accrual shall be substantially proportionate to eight hours per month, with amounts earned credited at the end of each month or substantially similar period.
