County Alcohol and Other Drug Program

(a) In addition to any other services authorized under this chapter, the department shall urge the county to develop within existing resources specific policies and procedures to address the unique treatment problems presented by persons who are both mentally disordered and chemically dependent. Priority may be given to developing policies and procedures that relate to the diagnosis and treatment of homeless persons who are mentally disordered and chemically dependent.
In addition to any other services authorized under this chapter, the department shall urge the county to develop within existing resources specific policies and procedures to address the unique treatment problems presented by individuals who have a substance use disorder and also have a mental health disorder. Priority may be given to developing policies and procedures that relate to the diagnosis and treatment of homeless persons who have mental health disorders and have a substance use disorder.
(b) The director shall consult with the Director of Health Care Services in developing guidelines for county mental health and alcohol and drug treatment programs in order to comply with this section.
