Prior to the admission of a veteran as a member of the home, and at any time during which a veteran is a member of the home, the department may investigate the veterans’ financial status to insure that the veteran is unable to pay for necessary hospital or domiciliary care outside of the home. The department may contract with any other state agency to conduct such an investigation in its behalf.
