Progress reports to Florida Commission on Offender Review

From time to time the Department of Corrections shall submit to the Florida Commission on Offender Review progress reports and recommendations regarding prisoners sentenced under s. 921.18. If the classification board of the Department of Corrections determines that justice and the public welfare will best be served by paroling or discharging a prisoner, it shall transmit its finding to the Florida Commission on Offender Review. The commission shall have the authority to place the prisoner on parole as provided by law or give the prisoner a full discharge from custody. The period of a parole granted by the Florida Commission on Offender Review shall be in its discretion, but the parole period may not exceed the maximum term for which the prisoner was sentenced.
