Deduction to pay court costs

If wages are paid to a resident pursuant to section 218.42, the administrator in control of an institution listed in section 218.1 may deduct from the wages an amount sufficient to pay all or a part of the costs taxed to the resident by reason of the resident’s commitment to the institution. In such case the amount so deducted shall be forwarded to the clerk of the district court or proper official.
