Iowa Code § 321.158

No motor vehicle shall be registered in this state unless the manufacturer thereof has furnished to the department the sworn statement herein provided, giving the list price and weight of the model of the motor vehicle that is offered for registration, except as provided in section 321.159.
Except as provided in section 321.159, a motor vehicle shall not be registered in this state unless the manufacturer of the vehicle has furnished, in compliance with section 321.157, the list price and weight of the model of the motor vehicle that is offered for registration.
