Iowa Code § 602.1610

Mandatory retirement

1. Judicial officers shall cease to hold office upon reaching the mandatory retirement age.

a. The mandatory retirement age is seventy-eight years for all justices of the supreme court, judges of the court of appeals, and district judges.

b. The mandatory retirement age is seventy-eight years for all district associate judges, associate juvenile judges, associate probate judges, and judicial magistrates.

2. The mandatory retirement age for employees of the judicial branch is as provided in section 97B.46.
