Appointment of guardian or conservator on a standby basis for minor approaching majority

Any adult with an interest in the welfare of a minor who is at least seventeen years and six months of age may file a verified petition pursuant to section 633.552 or section 633.553 to initiate a proceeding to appoint a guardian or conservator for the minor to take effect on the minor’s eighteenth birthday.

Section takes effect January 1, 2020, and applies to guardianships and guardianship proceedings for adults and conservatorships and conservatorship proceedings for adults and minors established or pending before, on, or after that date; 2019 Acts, ch 57, §43, 44
