Gifts

1. The department may accept gifts and bequests which shall be used in accordance with the desires of the donor if expressed. Funds contained in an endowment fund for either the department of history and archives or the state historical society existing on July 1, 1974, remain an endowment of the department. Gifts shall be accepted only on behalf of the department, and gifts to a part, branch, or section of the department are presumed to be gifts to the department.
