Slaughter Livestock Buyers Act

  • 225 ILCS 655/1— This Act shall be known and may be cited as the "Slaughter Livestock Buyers Act"
  • 225 ILCS 655/2— As used in this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, words and phrases have the meaning ascribed to them as follows: "Department" means the Illinois Department of Agriculture
  • 225 ILCS 655/3— No person shall engage in the business of buying or brokering slaughter livestock in the State after January 1, 1974, unless they are registered with the Department as provided for by this Act
  • 225 ILCS 655/4— Application for registration - Financial statement - Surety bond
  • 225 ILCS 655/4.1— The Director shall be named as trustee on any bond required of any person subject to the Packers and Stockyards Act of 1921, as amended in 1976, if the home office or headquarters of that person is located within this State

  • 225 ILCS 655/6— A certificate of registration must be prominently displayed at each place of business of the registrant

  • 225 ILCS 655/13— Upon the revocation or suspension of any registration, the registrant shall forthwith surrender all certificates of registration issued under this Act to the Department
  • 225 ILCS 655/14— The Director may issue regulations, consistent with the provisions of this Act, for the administration and enforcement thereof and may prescribe forms for use in connection therewith
  • 225 ILCS 655/15— Each registrant shall maintain records of each transaction under this Act, including a description of slaughter livestock, the name and address of the seller, the purchase price and the date of purchase

  • 225 ILCS 655/17— Each registrant whose records are kept on a calendar year basis shall file annually with the Department a report on prescribed forms not later than April 15 or, if the records are kept on a fiscal year basis, not later than 90 days after the close of the fiscal year

  • 225 ILCS 655/19— Each registrant may, upon written request to the Department, obtain an agent's card for any person whom he wishes to represent him
