Laboratories; rules for manufacture of explosives; exemption from regulated explosive magazines permit

Sec. 2. (a) This section applies to the following laboratories:

(1) Analytical laboratories approved by the division of fire and building safety under the alternative criteria established by the commission in its rules.
(1) Analytical laboratories approved by the department under the alternative criteria established by the commission in its rules.
(2) Laboratories that are: (A) operated by a college, university, school, or other educational entity for the purpose of instruction or research; and (B) approved by the division of fire and building safety under the alternative criteria established by the commission in the rules. (b) The commission may: (1) apply different rules to the manufacture of regulated explosives (as defined in IC 35-47.5-2-13) in a laboratory described in subsection (a) than apply to other places where regulated explosives (as defined in IC 35-47.5-2-13) are manufactured; and (2) adopt rules under IC 4-22-2 to exempt laboratories described in subsection (a) from the regulated explosive magazines permit requirement under IC 35-47.5-4.
(2) Laboratories that are: (A) operated by a college, university, school, or other educational entity for the purpose of instruction or research; and (B) approved by the department under the alternative criteria established by the commission in the rules. (b) The commission may: (1) apply different rules to the manufacture of regulated explosives (as defined in IC 35-47.5-2-13) in a laboratory described in subsection (a) than apply to other places where regulated explosives (as defined in IC 35-47.5-2-13) are manufactured; and (2) adopt rules under IC 4-22-2 to exempt laboratories described in subsection (a) from the regulated explosive magazines permit requirement under IC 35-47.5-4.
