Definitions for section -- Insurable interest in shared car in peer-to-peer car sharing program -- Construction

Known as the Long-term Care Insurance Act

(1) As used in this section, the following have the same meaning as in KRS 365.520:

(a) "Car sharing period";

(b) "Car sharing program agreement";

(c) "Peer-to-peer car sharing program";

(d) "Shared vehicle";

(e) "Shared vehicle driver"; and (f) "Shared vehicle owner." (2) Notwithstanding any other provision of this subtitle, a peer-to-peer car sharing program shall have an insurable interest in a shared vehicle during the car sharing period, which shall include owning and maintaining, as the named insured, one (1) or more policies of motor vehicle liability insurance that provides coverage for:

(a) Liabilities assumed by the peer-to-peer car sharing program under a car sharing program agreement;

(b) Any liability of the shared vehicle owner or shared vehicle driver; and (c) Damage or loss to the shared vehicle.

(3) Nothing in this section creates liability on a peer-to-peer car sharing program to maintain the coverage required under KRS 365.522.
