Md. Code Ann., Fam. Law § 5-403

Known as the Maryland Adoption Subsidy Act

The act spans §§ 5–5 (12 sections).

The local department shall determine whether a subsidy is necessary to ensure a child’s adoption because of the child’s special circumstances, including:

(1) physical or mental disability;

(2) emotional disturbance;

(3) recognized high risk of physical or mental disease;

(4) age;

(5) sibling relationship; and

(6) racial or ethnic factors.
