As of June 1, 2021
(1) Local school administrative units shall participate in the School-Based Management and Accountability Program.

(2) The School-Based Management and Accountability Program shall provide increased local control of schools with the goal of improving student performance. Local boards of education: Are allowed increased flexibility in the expenditure of State funds, in accordance with G.S. 115C-105.25; and

(3) May be granted waivers of certain State laws, regulations, and policies that inhibit their ability to reach local accountability goals, in accordance with G.S. 115C-105.26.

(4) The School-Based Management and Accountability Program shall be based upon an accountability, recognition, assistance, and intervention process in order to hold each school and the school's personnel accountable for improved student performance in the school.
