The following definitions apply in this Article:

(16) Sponsoring organization. - Any nonprofit organization that organizes or arranges for the voluntary provision of health care services pursuant to this Article.

(17) Voluntary provision of health care services. - The provision of health care services by a health care provider in association with a sponsoring organization in which both of the following circumstances exist: The health care services are provided without charge to the recipient of the services or to a third party on behalf of the recipient.

Effect of Amendments. - Session Laws 2012-194, s. 47(a), effective January 1, 2013, in subdivision (3)m, substituted "through l. " for "through n."; and in paragraph following subdivision (5)b, substituted "nonprofit" for "non-profit" twice and substituted "provider's" for "providers."
Session Laws 2013-49, s. 2, effective October 1, 2013, deleted "and that maintains liability insurance covering the acts and omissions of the free clinic and any liability pursuant to G.S. 90-21.16(a) " at the end of subdivision (2). For applicability, see Editor's note.
