N.Y. Economic Development Law § 2

§ 2. Definitions. Whenever used in this chapter:\n 1. "Department" shall mean the state department of economic\ndevelopment.\n 2. "Commissioner" shall mean the commissioner of economic development.\n 3. The term "atomic energy" means all forms of energy released in the\ncourse of nuclear fission or nuclear fusion or other nuclear\ntransformation.\n 4. The term "science oriented industry and applied research" means\nindustrial or commercial activities and applied research in the fields\nof atomic energy, space development, marine sciences, ocean engineering\nand other science oriented or advanced technology industry.\n 5. "Telecommuting" shall mean the conservation of energy through the\nreduction of travel by employees of the department to and from their\ndesignated workplace through the use of telecommunication and computer\ntechnology in tasks including, but not limited to, information transfer\nand processing.\n 6. "Animal fiber" means natural fibers that have formed the covering,\nor fleece, of sheep or other hairy animals such as goats or alpacas,\nshorn for the purpose of creating textile products.\n 7. "Plant fiber" means natural fibers that are obtained from plants\nand used to create textile products including, but not limited to, hemp.\n
