* § 607. Prohibition of double-bunked housing. 1. For purposes of this\nsection "double-bunked housing" shall mean the practice of inmate\nhousing where bunk beds are used in a dormitory setting, with inmates\nresiding in an open space and sleeping on bunk beds.\n 2. Upon the effective date of this section, the department is\nprohibited from housing inmates using double-bunked housing practices in\ncorrectional facilities. Any inmates housed in such double-bunked\nhousing on the effective date of this section shall be moved to other\nhousing accommodations provided that such accommodations are not located\nin a more restrictive housing unit or correctional facility unless\notherwise appropriate.\n 3. The department is authorized to promulgate or repeal any rules and\nregulations necessary to facilitate the implementation of this section.\n * NB Effective February 1, 2022\n

Upon the effective date of this section, the department is\nprohibited from housing incarcerated individuals using double-bunked\nhousing practices in correctional facilities. Any incarcerated\nindividuals housed in such double-bunked housing on the effective date\nof this section shall be moved to other housing accommodations provided\nthat such accommodations are not located in a more restrictive housing\nunit or correctional facility unless otherwise appropriate.\n 3. The department is authorized to promulgate or repeal any rules and\nregulations necessary to facilitate the implementation of this section.\n
