§ 291. Equality of opportunity a civil right.\n 1. The opportunity to obtain employment without discrimination because\nof age, race, creed, color, national origin, sexual orientation,\nmilitary status, sex, marital status, or disability, is hereby\nrecognized as and declared to be a civil right.\n 2. The opportunity to obtain education, the use of places of public\naccommodation and the ownership, use and occupancy of housing\naccommodations and commercial space without discrimination because of\nage, race, creed, color, national origin, sexual orientation, military\nstatus, sex, marital status, or disability, as specified in section two\nhundred ninety-six of this article, is hereby recognized as and declared\nto be a civil right.\n 3. The opportunity to obtain medical treatment of an infant\nprematurely born alive in the course of an abortion shall be the same as\nthe rights of an infant born spontaneously.\n
