§ 231. Jurisdiction over mentally retarded children. If it shall\nappear to the court that any child within its jurisdiction is mentally\nretarded, the court may cause such child to be examined as provided in\nthe mental hygiene law and if found to be mentally retarded as therein\ndefined, may commit such child in accordance with the provisions of such\nlaw.\n
