§ 580-705. Direct request. (a) A petitioner may file a direct request\nseeking establishment or modification of a support order or\ndetermination of parentage of a child. In the proceeding, the law of\nthis state applies.\n (b) A petitioner may file a direct request seeking recognition and\nenforcement of a support order or support agreement. In the proceeding,\nsections 580-706 through 580-713 of this part apply.\n (c) In a direct request for recognition and enforcement of a\nConvention support order or foreign support agreement:\n (1) a security, bond or deposit is not required to guarantee the\npayment of costs and expenses; and\n (2) an obligee or obligor that in the issuing country has benefited\nfrom free legal assistance is entitled to benefit, at least to the same\nextent, from any free legal assistance provided for by the law of this\nstate under the same circumstances.\n (d) A petitioner filing a direct request is not entitled to assistance\nfrom the state child support agencies.\n (e) This part does not prevent the application of laws of this state\nthat provide simplified, more expeditious rules regarding a direct\nrequest for recognition and enforcement of a foreign support order or\nforeign support agreement.\n
