Veterans health care information program

§ 3803. Veterans health care information program. 1. There is hereby\ncreated within the department the veterans health care information\nprogram (referred to in this section as the "program"), which shall\nprovide information on health issues associated with military duty,\nincluding but not limited to Agent Orange, spina bifida, Gulf War\nSyndromes, toxic materials or harmful physical agents such as, depleted\nuranium, and hepatitis C, and specific mental and physical health issues\nincluding post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury and\nother brain-related injuries, for veterans, their surviving spouses,\nchildren of veterans and health care providers.\n 2. The program shall include but not be limited to the following\nelements:\n (a) public service announcements;\n (b) establishment of a toll-free telephone hotline to provide\ninformation regarding health care providers and treatment centers with\nexpertise in illnesses associated with military duty; and\n (c) establish a veterans health information clearing house on-line.\n 3. In exercising any of his or her powers under this section, the\ncommissioner shall consult with appropriate health care professionals,\nproviders, veterans or organizations representing them, the department\nof veterans' services, the United States department of veterans affairs\nand the United States defense department.\n 4. The commissioner may make rules and regulations necessary and\nappropriate for the implementation of this section.\n
