N.Y. State Technology Law § 101

§ 101. Definitions. As used in this article the following terms shall\nmean:\n 1. "Council" means the advisory council for technology.\n 2. "Director" means the director of the office.\n 3. "Office" means the office of information technology services.\n 4. "State agency" means any department, board, bureau, commission,\ndivision, office, council, committee or officer of the state. Such term\nshall not include the legislature or judiciary.\n 5. "Technology" means either a good or a service or a combination\nthereof, used in the application of any computer or electronic\ninformation or interconnected system that is used in the acquisition,\nstorage, manipulation, management, movement, control, display,\nswitching, interchange, transmission, or reception of data or voice\nincluding, but not limited to, hardware, software, information\nappliances, firmware, programs, systems, networks, infrastructure,\nmedia, and related material used to automatically and electronically\ncollect, receive, access, transmit, display, store, record, retrieve,\nanalyze, evaluate, process, classify, manipulate, manage, assimilate,\ncontrol, communicate, exchange, convert, coverage, interface, switch, or\ndisseminate data of any kind or form, and shall include all associated\nconsulting, management, facilities, maintenance, support and training.\nGoods may be either new or used.\n 6. "Cloud computing" shall have the same meaning as defined by the\nnational institute of standards and technology's special publication\n800-145, and any subsequent version of such publication.\n
