§ 144. Fees and charges. The commissioner or authorized officer or\nemployee of the department shall charge and collect the following fees:\n 1. For filing an application for a temporary or a permanent\ncertificate or permit or an application for the extension or renewal of\nany such certificate or permit pursuant to sections one hundred\nfifty-three, one hundred fifty-four, one hundred fifty-five, one hundred\nseventy-three, one hundred seventy-four, one hundred seventy-five, one\nhundred ninety-two and subdivision four of section one hundred\nninety-three o.......................................................$50\n 2. For filing an application to reinstate, transfer or lease a\ncertificate or a permit pursuant to section one hundred fifty-six, one\nhundred seventy-seven or one hundred ninety-five of this c...........$50\n 3. For filing an application for a rehearing pursuant to section\neighty-nine of this chapter..........................................$50\n 4. For filing an application for the discontinuance of a bus line\nroute pursuant to subdivision five of section one hundred fifty-four of\nthis chapter.........................................................$50\n 5. For furnishing a certification of any paper, record or official\ndocument, one dollar. No fees shall be charged or collected for copies\nof papers, records or official documents, furnished to public officers\nfor use in their official capacity, or for the annual reports of the\ncommissioner in the ordinary course of distribution, but the\ncommissioner may fix reasonable charges for copies of papers, records,\nofficial documents and other publications furnished or issued to others\nunder this authority. All fees charged and collected by the commissioner\npursuant to this section shall be deposited by the comptroller into the\nspecial obligation reserve and payment account of the dedicated highway\nand bridge trust fund established pursuant to section eighty-nine-b of\nthe state finance law.\n
§ 144. Fees and charges. The commissioner or authorized officer or\nemployee of the department shall charge and collect eighty-five dollars\nfor the inspection or reinspection of all motor vehicles transporting\npassengers subject to the department's inspection requirements pursuant\nto section one hundred forty of this article, except such: (a) motor\nvehicles operated under contract with a municipality to provide\nstatewide mass transportation operating assistance eligible service; (b)\nmotor vehicles operated under contract with a municipality or school\ndistrict to provide school-related transportation services; (c) motor\nvehicles authorized by the commissioner of health to provide\nnon-emergency medical transportation services; and (d) motor vehicles\nused primarily to transport passengers pursuant to subparagraphs (i),\n(iii), (iv), and (v) of paragraph a of subdivision two of section one\nhundred forty of this article. The department may deny inspection of any\nmotor vehicle transporting passengers subject to the department's\ninspection requirements if such fee is not paid within ninety days of\nthe date noted on the department invoice.\n
