* § 404-cc. Distinctive "Cure Childhood Cancer" plates. 1. Any person\nresiding in this state shall upon request be issued a distinctive plate\nin support of childhood cancer research bearing the words "Cure\nChildhood Cancer". Application for such plates shall be filed with the\ncommissioner in such form and detail as the commissioner shall\nprescribe.\n 2. Any distinctive plate issued pursuant to this section shall be\nissued in the same manner as other number plates upon the payment of the\nregular registration fee prescribed by section four hundred one of this\narticle; provided, however, that an additional annual service charge of\ntwenty-five dollars shall be charged for such plate. Such service charge\nshall be deposited pursuant to the provisions of section four hundred\nfour-oo of this article to the credit of the department of motor\nvehicles distinctive plate development fund established by section\nninety-five-g of the state finance law and shall be used for the design,\nproduction, advertising and distribution of distinctive license plates\nin accordance with such section ninety-five-g. Provided, however, that\nannual surcharges collected in excess of six thousand dollars shall be\ndeposited to the credit of the "cure childhood cancer research fund"\nestablished pursuant to section ninety-nine-z of the state finance law\nand shall be used for research programs undertaken pursuant to section\nninety-nine-z of the state finance law.\n * NB Effective May 27, 2017\n

Each twenty-five dollars received as the annual service charge\nunder this section shall be deposited to the credit of the "cure\nchildhood cancer research fund" established pursuant to section\nninety-nine-z of the state finance law and shall be used for research\nprograms undertaken pursuant to section ninety-nine-z of the state\nfinance law.\n
