N.Y. Veh. & Traf. Law § 404-v*2

* § 404-v. Distinctive plates for the United States Naval Armed Guard.\n1. Any member of the United States Naval Armed Guard residing in this\nstate shall, upon request, be issued a license plate bearing the words\n"United States Naval Armed Guard", or such other phrase as the\ncommissioner shall designate showing the registrant served in the United\nStates Naval Armed Guard. Application for such license plate shall be\nfiled with the commissioner in such form and detail as the commissioner\nshall prescribe.\n ** 2. The distinctive plate authorized pursuant to this section shall\nbe issued upon proof, satisfactory to the commissioner, that the\napplicant is a veteran who served in the United States Naval Armed Guard\nand who (1) was honorably discharged from such service, or (2) has a\nqualifying condition, as defined in section three hundred fifty of the\nexecutive law, and has received a discharge other than bad conduct or\ndishonorable from such service, or (3) is a discharged LGBT veteran, as\ndefined in section three hundred fifty of the executive law, and has\nreceived a discharge other than bad conduct or dishonorable from such\nservice.\n ** NB Effective until April 1, 2023\n ** 2. The distinctive plate authorized pursuant to this section shall\nbe issued upon proof, satisfactory to the commissioner, that the\napplicant is a veteran who served in the United States Naval Armed Guard\nand who (1) was honorably discharged from such service, or (2) has a\nqualifying condition, as defined in section one of the veterans'\nservices law, and has received a discharge other than bad conduct or\ndishonorable from such service, or (3) is a discharged LGBT veteran, as\ndefined in section one of the veterans' services law, and has received a\ndischarge other than bad conduct or dishonorable from such service.\n ** NB Effective April 1, 2023\n 3. A distinctive plate issued pursuant to this section shall be issued\nin the same manner as other number plates upon payment of the regular\nregistration fee prescribed by section four hundred one of this article,\nprovided, however, that an additional one-time service charge of ten\ndollars shall be charged for such plate. Provided, however, that one\nyear after the effective date of this section funds in the amount of\nfive thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be available, shall be\nallocated from such funds to the department to offset costs associated\nwith the production of such license plates.\n * NB There are 7 § 404-v's\n
