Operations rules as between vessels

(1) When two boats are approaching each other “head on” or in a manner so as to involve risk of collision, each boat shall bear to the right and pass the other boat on its left side.
(1) When two motorboats are approaching each other “head on” or in a manner so as to involve risk of collision, each motorboat shall bear to the right and pass the other motorboat on its left side.
(2) When boats approach each other obliquely or at right angles, the boat approaching on the right side has the right of way.
(2) When two vessels approach each other obliquely or at right angles, the vessel approaching on the right side should maintain its course and speed.
(3) One boat may overtake another on either side but shall grant the right of way to the overtaken boat.
(3) A vessel may overtake another vessel on either side but must be prepared to take early and substantial action to avoid collision. The vessel being overtaken should maintain its course and speed.
(4) The U.S. Coast Guard Inland Navigation Rules, 33 C.F.R. Part 83, as may be amended, are hereby adopted as the operative rules for Lake Champlain, Lake Memphremagog, and Wallace Pond in Canaan. Added 1983, No. 212 (Adj. Sess.), § 2; amended 1989, No. 65, § 8; 2015, No. 47, § 50.
