Courts to report weight violation convictions

Whenever any owner or operator is convicted of violating ss. 348.15 to 348.17 or any ordinance enacted under s. 349.15 (3) , the clerk of the court in which the conviction occurred, or the judge or municipal judge, if the court has no clerk, shall, within 48 hours after the conviction, forward a record of conviction to the department. Forfeiture of bail or appearance money or payment of a fine is a conviction within the meaning of this section.
