Conservation Districts Law

Nevada · Conservation · §§ 548.010 to 548.550 · 120 sections

Overview

The Conservation Districts Law provides for the conservation of renewable natural resources through local conservation districts, resting on a legislative finding that conservation is needed and best led by local communities with the districts' particular expertise. It establishes a state conservation commission — with appointed and ex officio members, a chair, a seal, quorum and meeting rules, its own staff and records, and legal services from the attorney general — and gives it general powers over the districts, including programs for distributing grants to them and the cooperation of other state agencies. Districts are organized on petition, with due notice and a hearing, after the commission determines that a district is needed and fixes the territory it will cover.
