Section 968 · Definitions

(1) “Board” means the National Museum Services Board established under section 962 of this title;

(2) “Director” means the Director of the Institute established under section 962 of this title;

(3) “Institute” means the Institute of Museum Services established under section 962 of this title; and

(4) “museum” means a public or private nonprofit agency or institution organized on a permanent basis for essentially educational or esthetic purposes, which, utilizing a professional staff, owns or utilizes tangible objects, cares for them, and exhibits them to the public on a regular basis.
