Section 11447 · Definitions

As used in this part—
(1) the term “applicant” means public agencies, private nonprofit organizations, private businesses, and other appropriate entities;
(2) the term “Interagency Council” means the Interagency Council on the Homeless;
(3) the term “local public agency” means any public agency of a general purpose political subdivision of a State which has the power to levy taxes and spend funds, as well as general corporate and police powers;
(4) the term “Secretary” means the Secretary of Labor; and
(5) the term “State” means each of the several States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
