The lessee of a farm. It is said that every lessee for Ilfe or years, although it be but of a small house and land, is called "farmer." This word implies no mystery, excopt it be that of husbandman. Cunningham; Cowell.

A husbandman or agriculturist; one' who cultivates a farm, whether the land be his own or another's. 3. .One who assumes the collection of the publlc revenues, taxes, excise, etc., for a cor tain commission or percentage; as a farmer of the revenues.
