A Law Dictionary, Adapted to the Constitution and Laws of the United States
conveyancing, is properly applied to the creation of an estate tail; as that of feoffment is to that of an estate in fee simple. It differs in nothing from a feoffment, but in the nature of the estate passing by it; and livery of seisin must be given to render it effectual. The operative words of this conveyance are do or dedi. The maker of this instrument is called the donor, and he to whom it is made, the donee.
